Kendrick Perkins from Celtics Gets Grilled
If you don’t know who Kendrick Perkins is, he plays the center for the Celtics basketball team. Perkins recently had the jeweler Richard Berberian of Reading, create him a blinged out grill for a couple thousand dollars. The grill has diamonds and jewels, giving him an icy smile. Berbarian receives lots of celebrity business in his small-town-like shop. Displays of all sorts celebrities and athletes line his walls. Besides making grillz, he has also made other forms of jewelry for various notables.
He recently created pieces for Michael Flatley, host of “Superstars of Dance” and Susie Castillo, former Miss USA. He also made a phenomenal 113 karat blue topaz pendant necklace that was to be exposed on American Idol. If you played close attention to the season, you may have noticed it wasn’t there; this is because for the first time in the show’s history, no female made the finale. Berbarian says that he enjoys working on pieces with color and large pieces with non-traditional gemstones. He’s also using cheaper gems, such as beryl.
With such great talent, it’s no wonder why so many notables go to Berberian’s jewelry shop to get fitted for grills and other jewelry pieces. So if you see Perkins out and about with his iced grill, you know who to thank. You may also see many other celebrities with grills and other fashionable designer jewelry. There are some grills you can purchase online that fit mostly everyone; this avoids having to spend money to go to a dentist to get fitted.
